Last Thursday I took a personal day off work and hit the water.  I took care of a few things in the morning and made it to Laguna Beach in the afternoon.  When I arrived at the Crescent Bay the conditions looked ideal.  The surf was 1 to 2 feet with almost no chop.  I began to hope that the Laguna Sea Sports dive report may have been conservative with the visibility report. 

Unfortunately when I finally got in the water I quickly realized the water was a little murky. (10 to 12 feet)  Since the water seemed fairly free of particulates I can only assume a recent algae bloom was causing the low viz.  The water wasn’t as clear as I may have wanted, but it was still a wonderful dive at Dead Man’s.   Check out the pictures at (13 images).

Can someone please help me identify the Baby Fish?

A man who lost his family in the September 11 attack on New York City runs into his old college roommate. Rekindling the friendship is the one thing that appears able to help the man recover from his grief.

This was an intense emotional movie.  Sobering subject matter about how one moment in time can change someones life forever.  This role probably won’t be the most memorable of Adam Sandlers carreer but I am sure he will look back at it as amoung his best work. 

I was a little aprehensive about seeing Adam Sandler in a serious film after seeing Punch Drunk Love which was an OK film but not what i would call a flattering role.  Anyway, I give this one five stars.  If you want to see a film that will tug on your heart string and leave you felling apreceative of your loved ones this film will deilver.  

I should also mention that Don Cheadle gave an equally amzing performance.  He’s a truly great actor.

Today I was sad to find out why my tank couldn’t be filled for the weekend.  It appears the DIN valve was damaged on my last trip to Catalina.  I had the tank strapped to the top of my dive trunk.  The trunk fell over and when the tank hit the concrete it bent the top of valve lip down forcing the threads out of round.  I wish I had my DIN plug in because that would have prevented the damage by reinforcing the threads.  I usually leave it out to indicate that the tank needs to be filled.  Now I’m out $80 and will be rethinking that method for marking empty tanks.

I wasn’t able to dive today because my tank couldn’t be filled.  I will figure out what that means exactly on Monday.  When my friend went by to pick up the tank it had a piece of tape on it that said it couldn’t be filled.  Josef wasn’t working and there wasn’t a note on it saying exactly why. 

I did manage to put up this blog so I guess the day wasn’t a total waste.
